An Idea is Born
It was a freezing January 1998 afternoon in Oakville Ontario where two friends
sat together over coffee and thought "damn, it's cold here, let's do something fun."
The conversation continued for a few minutes, then the idea was born: "Let's go race
in the Baja 1000 with a Hummer!" and at that moment an incredible project was hatched.
A short 10 months later, a team of dedicated Canadians, some of whom had never even
been to the desert or mountains before, decended on the Baja peninsula. After the
dust had settled, Team Canada Racing finished first in class!
In the Extreme Style
Frostbite was created from the spirit of overcoming great odds, the genesis being
Team Canada Racing's multiple wins in the Baja 1000, where a group of Canadians
emerged victorious in one of the most intense sporting events on the planet.
